Digital medicine is a burgeoning field driven by the rapid pace of innovation in wireless technologies – innovation that is fueling the transformation of medicine.
Despite its newcomer status to the research arena, pioneering studies are being conducted in digital medicine and dedicated journals, such as npj Digital Medicine, are important platforms to promote this growing body of work.
In addition to publishing research findings, it’s important for stakeholders to come together to discuss topics, trends, and the future direction of the field. For digital medicine, many conferences and trade shows have emerged focusing on the devices and technologies that form the “toolbox” for the field. However, fewer venues exist that focus on the clinical evidence needed in order to drive wide-scale uptake of digital health solutions.
In a bid to foster dialogue between stakeholders, the Scripps Translational Science Institute has partnered with Nature Research to host DIGIMED17: Transforming Healthcare Through Evidence-Driven Digital Medicine. The conference, hosted for the second time this coming October in La Jolla, California, is led by npj Digital Medicine editors-in-chief, Drs. Steven Steinhubl and Eric Topol.
DIGIMED17 brings together developers, researchers, and health providers to discuss data and evidence needed to accelerate change in medicine towards a more patient-centric and technology-enabled system.
Speakers are still being added to the agenda, but confirmed faculty include:
- Stephen Friend, MD, PhD, Health Team, Apple Inc.
- Adam Pellegrini, Digital Health Vice President, Fitbit
- Vinod Khsola, Founder, Khosla Ventures
- Noga Leviner, Co-Founder & CEO, PicnicHealth
- Jack Po, MD, PhD, Product Manager, Google Brain
- And many others.
And if mingling with world-class speakers and fellow attendees becomes too overwhelming, guests can recharge their networking batteries by dipping their toes into the Pacific Ocean. The friendly folks at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography confirmed that the beach is a mere 23 steps away from the conference venue!
More information about DIGIMED17 can be found on the conference website. (Also, attention students! The organizers have made a limited number of conference passes available for students for free through an application process.)
We hope to see you in October!
